Membership

A person wishing to join the Red Fez Shrine Club must be a member in good standing of a Shrine Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in North America. He must submit a Membership Application provided for that purpose by the Red Fez Shrine Club Board of Directors.

Each applicant must be endorsed by at least two members, one of whom is a Director, who will sponsor the applicant at the next Board meeting.

Reasons for joining The Red Fez Shrine Club
Basically, a Shriner joins the Red Fez Shrine Club for two reasons. The first and foremost reason should be to help support the Shriners Hospitals for Children and, secondly, a desire to meet and make new friends. The Red Fez Shrine Club is very important because it fulfills both of these goals. In addition to the money raised for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Club gives each member and his family an opportunity to enrich their lives by building wonderful relationships with fellow Shrine families who share the same goals in life. The Red Fez Shrine Club prides itself on being a family oriented Club.

Red Fez Club Facilities
The Red Fez Shrine Club's facilities are spread out over twenty acres on the shore of beautiful Lake Wylie in Mecklenburg County. The facilities include a Clubhouse that was built in 1925 and is complete with all the necessary amenities. Also, an olympic size swimming pool, a large covered picnic shelter , horseshoe pits, a basketball court, and river beach. The Clubhouse and the shelter area are available for lease during portions of the year. The swimming pool is for members, their families, and friends only. Other facilities on the property include a recreational vehicle campground and boat docks .

Club Parties and Dinners
Every year the Club hosts many special events, theme parties, and dinners. Some are very casual, but some are very eloquent black tie affairs. Some of the events are geared toward children, others are for both children and adults, and some are primarily for adults. For the past several years, the Red Fez Club has had a policy of just trying to break even on Club social activities. This has allowed us to have better food and terrific live entertainment or disc jockeys at a very reasonable charge to our members and their guests. The Club schedules a minimum of one social event every month, but most of the time, two or three events are planned.

Fun Vacation Trips
For a good many years, members of the Red Fez Club have taken fun trips together. These trips are very important because they are a conduit for building wonderful relationships with your Shrine brothers. They have been as short as weekends and as long as ten days. We have traveled by chartered bus, ship, boat, airplane, train, and even by car. We have cruised around Hawaii, Bermuda, and almost all of the Caribbean. We have travelled to New Orleans by train for Mardi Gras, and flown to Las Vegas. We always have a large group going to SASA and all the Ceremonials.

All members, their families, and their friends are invited to go on these trips. They are always well publicized, a lot of fun, and an affordable cost.

Swimming Pool
The Red Fez Club has an olympic size swimming pool that is free of charge to all members, their families, and friends. The pool is off limits to rental groups. It is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The pool has been completely refurbished, including the filter system, and the concrete patio around the pool. Almost every day, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, you will find sun bathers, swimmers, and people just relaxing by the pool.

Campground
The Red Fez Club has twenty-four (24) permanent campground lots for mobile camper trailers, that are available to all members. These lots are leased to members only on a seniority basis. Sites are available for those members that wish to park their self-contained camper at the Red Fez Club for short periods of time. Tent camping is always available.

Boat Docks
The Red Fez Club has one boat ramp and two sets of boat docks that are available to all members who own boats. One set of docks, located in the campground area and next to the boat ramp, has fourteen (14) boat slips. These slips are leased to members only on a seniority basis. A second set of docks, located next to the Clubhouse consisting of ten (10) slots, are available to all Club members, or friends of the Club, free of charge for short periods of time.

Red Fez Shrine Club Governing Body
The Red Fez Club is governed by six Directors and an Executive Committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. To be elected to the Executive Committee, the member must have served on the Board of Directors. The President and Vice President are elected to a one year term. The Secretary, Treasurer, and six Directors are elected for a two year term.

Camelettes
The Camelettes are the Red Fez Club's ladies auxiliary and are a vital part of the Club. Catering weddings is the Camelettes' chief method of raising money for the Club. They also help with all Club fund raising projects and social functions. The Camelettes host both the Club's annual Childrens' Easter Party and Childrens' Christmas Party.
